Numerology grids are powerful tools used to decode patterns hidden in a person’s date of birth. Two systems are widely used today: the Lo Shu Grid and the Vedic Numerology Grid. While they look similar, their logic and interpretation are quite different.
Origin
The Lo Shu Grid comes from ancient Chinese numerology. According to mythology, the pattern appeared on the back of a turtle emerging from the Lo Shu River. The grid is arranged as:
4 9 2
3 5 7
8 1 6
Numbers from the date of birth are placed into this grid to analyze personality traits and life patterns.
The Vedic Numerology Grid is inspired by Indian numerology and planetary symbolism. A commonly used layout is:
3 1 9
6 7 5
2 8 4
This arrangement reflects planetary energy flow used in Vedic traditions.
Calculation Method
In the Lo Shu system, every digit from the date of birth is used. Numbers can repeat multiple times, and the analysis focuses on which numbers appear and which are missing.
In the Vedic grid method, many practitioners use refined rules. The grid focuses on planetary numbers and energy balance. Some systems also consider Mulank (birth number) and Bhagyank (destiny number) depending on the method being followed.
Interpretation
Lo Shu grid analysis mainly focuses on arrows formed by numbers in straight lines. If all three numbers in a line appear, it forms an arrow of strength. If all are missing, it forms an arrow of weakness. This makes the system quick and pattern-based.
The Vedic grid focuses more on planetary influence. Each number corresponds to a planet:
1 – Sun
2 – Moon
3 – Jupiter
4 – Rahu
5 – Mercury
6 – Venus
7 – Ketu
8 – Saturn
9 – Mars
Instead of only arrows, the interpretation also considers planetary balance, missing energies, karmic lessons, and life tendencies.
Which One Is Better?
Both systems have their strengths. The Lo Shu grid is simple and easy to learn, making it popular worldwide. The Vedic grid connects more closely with Indian spiritual traditions and planetary numerology.
Many modern numerologists prefer the Vedic grid because it aligns with astrology and often provides deeper insights about life patterns and karmic influences.
